We grew up in a neon town where all the strangers look the same. we'd play make believe that we were stars in hollywood on the silver screen. and when the streets were wet I'd pick you up and carry you over puddles of rain. but I got side lined from playing the role of the man who got to steal your heart away.

Molly's in here backpack again since last summer shes found some best friends. shes climbing to the top of the charts slacks in every class but art. stole some vinyls off of her dad rolls her joints on zeppelin when she's sad. there's something in the way that she moves the kind of beat its hard to get used to. but once you do you wont give it back she wont break your heart she'll just tear it in half.
And there's no hope for us kids here we'll drink our fifths and our forties of beer. we'll sell our problems down the interstate some things in life you just cant fake like love and drugs and bare knuckle fights. we are the youth and we live by the night.
Shes taking molly and shes heading out west. shes got her top down and her party dress. shes gonna meet some friend from her past. ya there gonna get real wild and smashed. shes gonna make her poppa proud by throwing up his hard earned money on the ground. there's something in the way that he moves. the kind of fist its hard to get used to. and once you do you wont want it back he wont break your heart he'll just give it a crack.

There's a ghost in the hallway I think he's calling out your name. I hear voices in the living room saying nothings ever gonna change. I see the dogs in the window but there just howling at your moon. but the serpents in the wood work always wanting more from you. I feel the darkness in the light bulbs I think I know why the flowers bloom.
because this house was made from our bones and its hard to call this place your home. cuz we've turned in to the roots within this land and now we have to watch as our dreams turn to sand.
I hear the piano up the stairs with its creaking melody. through the door way in my head always wanting me to leave. but the creature in the bookshelf that only you and I can see. our feet have sunk into the floor boards there's something buried underneath. but its to late to turn back now this dusty air is all I breathe.

Say it aint so that breeze by the window calm and cooling my worried soul. I try to sleep at night but my fears i just cant seem to fight so I pour myself a drink in an attempt to make everything alright. alright.
They sing about there romeo but I cant be the only one that sleeps alone. I cant find her I just see that silhouette. right across from that California sunset. so please god before you forget help me find my Juliet.

I was eighteen it was nothing I dreamed the doors blew right off of this house. I was nineteen I gave up fighting I realized I couldn't change what I couldn't touch. it all crumbled around us they stopped and stared as if there judgment wasn't enough.
I dreamed that I was sailing across the blue till my boat sink. so I swam cross all the water across the blue and it was you I drank. I dreamed that I was flying till they held me down to clip my wings. so I fell from the tallest branch of the tallest tree right down into your arms..
I was twenty and you had plenty of artificial feelings running into your veins. I could tell by the look in your eye that you weren't coming back to reality.

Its along way down but your falling fast. it wont take long the way that your shadows cast. your shoes the don't fit so right anymore your hairs not the right color no it sure don't match your soul.. its getting darker as the days roll
Best friends are weapons words pierce your skin. I try to heal you but you just wont let me in. lock the door and put your ear up against the wall. listen for excuses but you've already used them all. ya you were walking now you gotta crawl
I heard the news guess your headed out west. gonna strap on your boots and take the money from that chest. we used to use it for cigarettes on late nights drinking cheap wine hoping we'd never ever forget.. now I'm guessing it was for the best
Go start a new grab yourself a handful of friends. tell them your running from your past or some ex boyfriend. ya I'm sure your sure to fit right in. just paint on that smile girl and.. do it all over again
